New Delhi: India’s campaign at the India Open Super Series ended as Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap lost their respective singles matches here on Friday.
Saina lost to former world champion Yihan Wang of China (16-21, 14-21) in the women’s quarterfinals while Malaysian Lee Chong Wei beat Kashyap (21-15, 21-13) in the last eight-stage.
Saina did manage to get a few points by playing on the back of the court in the opening game, but Yihan was too good for the Indian ace as she easily negotiated everything and took a lead of 11-9 at the break. After the breather, Yihan continued her dominance and won the match 21-16.
In the second game, Yihan marched ahead to lead 11-4. Though Saina fought back to win four straight points, Yihan won the second game 21-14.
