Kanpur: Powered by Shikhar Dhawan's scintillating century (119 off 95 balls), India defeated West Indies by five wickets in the third ODI to clinch the three-match series 2-1 at teh Green Park Satdium here on Wednesday.
The Indians first restricted West Indies to 263 for five and then chased the target with 23 balls to spare to lift yet another ODI trophy at home.
Dhawan was the star of the Indian batting as the Delhi batsman went on to score his fifth ODI hundred, while Yuvraj Singh notched up a 74-ball 55 to help India beat Windies at the Green Park Stadium which was hosting an international game after a gap of nearly four years. Dhawan and Yuvraj added 129 runs for the third wicket to set the platform for the easy win.
Earlier, West Indies posted a fighting total with Kieran Powell, Marlon Samuels and Darren Bravo scoring half-centuries. Powell (70) registered his second fifty of the series and with Samuels (71), shared a 117-run second-wicket partnership to lay the foundation for West Indies after the visitors were put into bat by India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Towards the end, Darren Bravo (51 not out) and Darren Sammy (37 not out) played aggressively to take West Indies past the 260-run mark.
For India, Ravichandran Ashwin took two for 45 in 10 overs.
