Hyderabad Open: Vidit share lead with three others

Vidit-making-his-opening-moveHyderabad: Four players including top rated Indian player Grandmaster Vidit Santosh Gujarathi share the lead with perfect score after third round matches of the ongoing 2nd Hyderabad International Grandmasters Chess Tournament sponsored by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd, Mahindra Ecole Centrale, Andhra Bank, Petronet LNG Ltd and Airports Authority of India here at Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy Indoor Stadium, Yousufguda on Wednesday.

Playing white side of King’s Indian defence game, Vidit shown great tactical skills in the rook and pawn end game to secure full points after 52 moves against Serbian Grandmaster Sinisa Drazic while Grandmaster Vladislav Borovikov of Ukraine, Grandmaster Azer Mirzoev of Azerbaijan and International Master Mikhail Mozharov of Russia giving company to Vidit at top of point table after defeating International Master Bahruz Razayev of Azerbaijan, Prince Bajaj and YVK Chakkaravarthy respectively in the third round.

Meanwhile the dream run of Andhra youngster Dhulipala Bala Chandra Prasad continued as he held Grandmaster Deepan Chakkravarthy to a creditable draw in the third round encounter. In the earlier rounds, he shocked Grandmaster Vishnu Prasanna and held Grandmaster Neelotpal Das.

In the other important matches in the third round, Grandmaster Lalith Babu signed the peace treaty with International Master Swayams Mishra while International Master Shyam Nikil held top seed Ivan Popov of Russia.

Vidit takes on Mirzoev and Vladislav paired against Mozharov in the fourth round which is now underway at the time report.
