Women's Pro Golf: Vani Kapoor takes lead on Day 2

00 vaniGurgaon: Delhi golfer Vani Kapoor took lead in the penultimate round of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2013. The INR 2,50,000 event is being played at the Golden Greens Golf & Resorts, Gurgaon. Vani returned with the day’s best score of three under 69 to finish at the top with a total score of 141 (72, 69) after 36 holes.

Vani started her round today with a bogey on the 1st hole which was followed by another bogey on the 6th hole, but she quickly managed to repair the damage with five birdies on the 2nd, 10th, 11th, 15th and 18th holes.

Overnight leader Saaniya Sharma from Chandigarh faltered in the second round to return with a total score of 146 (70,76) after the second round. Her round today consisted of two double bogeys on the 1st and 10th holes, four bogeys on the 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 15th holes and four birdies on the 5th, 8th, 11th and 16th holes. She trails Vani by 5 shots and is paced second after the 36 holes.


Pallavi Jain (78, 72) and Kolkata golfer Neha Tripathi(78, 72) were placed third with identical scores of 150 after the second round. Rookie Pune golfer Shweta Galande is placed fifth after 36 holes with a total score of 152 (77,75).

The Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2013 comprises a total of fourteen legs spanning across key locations in India.
