Rome Masters: Bhupathi-Bopanna in semis, Sania out

Mahesh bhupathi and Rohan bopanna in semifinals of Rome MastersRome: Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna have made it to the semi-finals of the Rome Masters after they got a walkover from the duo of Tomas Berdych and Radel Stepanek. On the other hand, pair of Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek-Sands was thrashed out of the women’s event.
 

Berdych, who outplayed the world number one Novak Jokovic in the men’s singles, withdrew from the match as he cited the muscle fatigue.


Bhupathi and Bopanna will now fight it out with Santiago Gonzalez and Scott Lipsky for the final spot.


Gonzalez and Lipsky won their quarterfinal match against the Spaniards Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez after getting bogged down in the first set 1-6, 6-4, 10-6.


Meanwhile, Sania and Bethanie's crashed out of the Rome Masters after suffering a defeat in the women's doubles by 4-6 3-6 against top seeds and local favourites Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.


The Indo-American pair lost in one hour and 15 minutes as they wasted six of the nine break chances.
