Lucknow: Parupalli Kashyap defeated Thailand's Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk 21-19 14-21 21-17 in the men’s singles final to win the Syed Modi Indian GP tournament. This is Kashyap’s first-ever international title.
PV Sindhu who was also in the race for the title lost her finals match against Lindaweni Fanetri of Indonesia 21-15 18-21 21-18.
Kashyap avoided early jitters to win the first game. Saensomboonsuk came back strongly to take the match into the decider.
Kashyap in the final game got an early lead and kept his cool to win his first-ever international title.
