Shanghai: India’s challenge at the China Open came to an end after last surviving Indian shutller Parupalli Kashyap lost to local boy Wang Zhengming in the quarter-final here on Friday.
The London Olympics quarterfinalist was beaten 17-21, 7-21 in a match that lasted for 34 minutes by the former world junior champion Wang.
Kasyap who was bidding for his second super series semifinals of the year was no match for World number 17 and struggled throughout the match.
In the first game, Kashyap took time to understand his opponent’s game before giving a fight to the Chinese.
Tied 11 at one stage, Wang took four points on the trot and there was no looking back for him.
In the second game, Wang dominated the proceedings and did not allow the 26 year old Indian to settle.
