French Open: Saina Nehwal storms into second round

Paris: Indian ace shuttler, Saina Nehwal continued her good run from Denmark Open and stormed into the second round of the French Open Super Series after she beat Li Han of China on Wednesday.

The top seeded Indian won the hard fought match 21-11 16-21 21-19.

The London Olympics bronze medallist will now face Thailand’s Sapsiree Taerattanachai in the next round.

In another match, Sourabh Varma’s campaign came to an end after he lost to Indonesia’s Sony Dwi Kuncoro20-22 16-21 in the first round.

In mixed doubles competition, the Indian duo of Tarun Kona and Ashwini Ponnappa were defeated by the Thai pair of Patiphat Chalardchaleam and Savitree Amitrapai 18-21 15-21.
