The match which was inconsequential after India took a 3-0 lead, saw Yuki beat Jose Statham 2-6, 7-5, 7-6(5) in two hours and 41 minutes.
After going down in the first, Yuki sprang back and won the set and in the final set he should have wrapped it easily but then erroneous game-play delayed the Yuki’s victory.
After failing to convert a break point in the final set, he opened up a 5-0 lead in the tie-breaker but then he let the Kiwi draw parity. The Delhi lad did go through some tense moments in the tie-breaker but then held on and won the match.
