Pune: Samaresh Jung created a new national record in the men’s 10m Air Pistol (ISSF) at the ongoing SEED Gun for Glory Shooting Championship, held under the aegis of Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation, here at the Shiv-Chhatrapati Sports Complex Shooting Range, Balewadi, on Friday.
Jung bettered his own National record of 586, scoring 587 out of 600 in the 10m air pistol. The veteran shooter who won the David Dixon award for the best athlete of the 2006 CWG, with a rich haul of five gold, one silver and one bronze, said, “I am happy with my performance. It was nice to finish the way I did today.”
Meanwhile, Vikram Kakade of Gun for Glory Shooting Academy won the silver medal in the men’s Clay Pigeon Trap Shooting. In the women’s 10m Air Pistol (ISSF) category, the top-seven women reached the final, which will be held on Saturday.
The SEED Gun for Glory Shooting Championship is being organized by ace shooter and Olympic bronze medallist Gagan Narang’s ‘Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation’ and Gun for Glory Shooting Academy. The second edition of the SEED Gun for Glory Championship is being held from September 12-18, and more than 1200 entries have already been received for participation in the tournament.
