Hyderabad: PV Sindhu is considered to be the next big thing in Indian badminton and she lived up to that expectation when she defeated the world no 2 and Olympics gold medallist Li Xuerui of China to enter the semifinals of the China Masters badminton tournament.
The match that went for 45 minutes saw Sindhu play some fabulous badminton to win 21-19 9-21 21-16. Sindhu started the match beautifully and looked at par with her opponent. The opening game went down to the wire and Sandhu held her nerves to get the early lead in the match.
In the second game, the Olympics champion came back strongly and got a huge lead. She won the second game without any fuss.
In the third and the deciding game, Sandhu played very well and looked determined. She got a lead and never looked back.
Sindhu will now face fourth seed Jiang Yanjiao of China in the semifinals.
