Chess Olympiad: Indian eves rout Estonia, men heldIstanbul: Indian men’s team bowed out of medal contention after playing another draw against Georgia at the 40th Chess Olympiad. It was a bad day for Indians as the women’s team also lost their match against Russia 1-3.

In the men’s event, K Sasikiran played a draw against Mikheil Mchedilishvili, P Harikrishna also could manage only a draw. GN Gopal was outplayed by Levan Pantsulaia.

Abhijeet Gupta was the only Indian men player who managed to win his encounter. The Indian men’s team is on joint 17th spot with 12 points.

In the women’s event, Tania Sachdev played out a draw against Nadezhda Kosintseva. D Harika also shared points with Tatiana Kosintseva. In another match, Soumya Swaminathan lost against Alexandra Kosteniuk.

Eesha Karavade also lost her match to Valentina Gunina. India still has a chance provided they beat Israel by a massive margin.
