New York: India’s Sania Mirza and her American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands defeated Darija Jurak and Katalin Marosi 6-4, 6-2 to reach the third round of the ongoing US Open.
The 13th seeded Indo-American pair defeated their unseeded opponents in straight sets in one hour and 39 minutes.
In the third round Sania-Bethanie will face the second seeded Italian pair of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.
In another match, Leander Paes and Elena Vesnina defeated Raquel Kops-Jones and Treat Conrad Huey 6-4, 7-5. The third seeded Indo-Russian pair defeated their opponents in one hour and 19 minutes.
They will now face Abigail Spears and Scott Lipsky.
