Canberra: Dipika Pallikal’s dream run at the Australian Squash Open came to an end as she lost to Laura Massaro of England in the semifinals here today at the National Convention Centre.
Deepika who earlier became the first Indian ever to qualify for the semifinals of a Gold Series took the World number 14 Massaro to the hilt before losing 7-11, 11-7, 11-13, 11-3, 9-11.
Dipika started off slow and lost the first game but the made a good comeback to win the second game and the fourth game.
Going into the decider, it looked like anybody’s match but then some great play by the experienced Massaro saw her eventually win the match.
