Toronto/ Montreal: Leander Paes cruised to the semifinals of the Rogers Cup men's doubles event while Sania Mirza was knocked out of the women's doubles event.
Paes and his Austrian partner Jurgen Melzer played an intensive match to win 7-6 (5), 4-6, 10-6 over Polish duo of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski to enter the last four of the tournament.
The Indo-Austria duo who entered the tournament as the fifth seeded pair would now take on the second seeded American pair of Mike and Bob Bryan who beat Australia 7-5, 6-1 to enter the semis.
Meanwhile Sania teaming alongside Bethanie Mattek-Sands of America lost 6-1, 5-7 5-10 to the Russian-Slovak pair of Nadezda Petrova and Katarina Srebotnik.
