London: Indian trap shooter Manavjit Singh Sandhu suffered a hiccup in the third round but that did not hurt his medal hopes as he kept his hunt on after a shooting 70 out of 75 in the trap event of the 2012 London Olympics at the Royal Artillery Barracks on Sunday.
The current Asian champion Singh shot an identical 24 in the first two rounds but then signed off with a 22 in final round to finish at the 25th out of 34 shooters. The two-time Olympic champion Michael Diamond ended his round with a perfect 75 to top the field.
Defending champion David Kostelecky of the Czech Republic shot 73 to end at tied 10th, while Alexei Alipov, the winner of the Athens Olympics 2004 was on 20th with 71.
Giovanni Pellielo of Italy who won the silver in last two Olympics finished 17th with 72.
While the score does reflect the current form of the shooters, it does not matter much as the lot would depend on the next two rounds.
