Narang dissapoints in 50m air rifle, Karmakar advances

London Olympics: Narang crashes out of 50m air rifle eventLondon: London Olympic bronze medallist Gagan Narang failed to replicate his 10m air rifle form as he crashed out of the 50m rifle prone event at the London Olympics. Meanwhile, Joydeep Karmakar kept India’s hope alive by qualifying for the finals.

Narang could only manage to fire just 593 out of 600 to finish at the 18th spot in a 50 men event. On the other hand, Karmakar shooting at the Royal Artillery Barracks scored 595 points and 51.6 points in the shoot-off to advance to the finals.

Sergei Martynov of Belarus topped the points table with a perfect 600.

Narang had a bad start as he started with a 98 in the first series, he than did well to hit two consecutive 100s, but did not manage to follow it us well. He scored 98 and 97 in the following rounds.
