Jai Bhagwan's Olympic run halted by Zhailauov

Jai BhagwanLondon: Indian boxer Jai Bhagwan after an great start to his campaign today ran out of steam and crashed out of the London Olympics after losing his bout in the pre-quarterfinals of the men’s light weight category(60 kg) at the Excel Centre here today.

Bhagwan lost 8-16 to Gani Zhailauov of Kazakhstan.

The Indian pugilist ranked 12th started off well and won the opening round 2-3.

Leading the match, Bhagwan entered the round with an further consolidate his hold on the match but some he lacked the focus and allowed Zhailauov dictate terms in the match.

The aggressive Zhailauov ranked eight dominated him outright and won the round 10-3 putting the match well beyond Bhagwan’s reach.

The Indian clearly down in the match needed to get his opponents skin but then he did not show any sign of fight-back and lost 4-2 in the final round to Zhailauov who had earlier beaten him in quarters of the 2011 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.
