London: It could have got worse for India at the London Olympics as one of their biggest medal prospect Deepika Kumari crashed out of the event after she lost in the elimination round of 32 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground here today.
Deepika who was who was the lone surviving archers out of the six member contingent lost to Great Britain's Amy Oliver 2-6.
Oliver won the first set after shooting 8, 10 (inner), 9 whereas Deepika had 8, 9, 9 in the first set.
The 18-year-old Indian however came back well in the second set to win it to keep her hopes alive. But then the Brit took both the subsequent sets to put eliminate Deepika from the mega event.
Such was Deepika’s form that she failed to score even a single 10.
With her exit from the tournament, it brought an early end to the Indian Archers’ campaign at London, where they were touted as a strong force.
