London: India’s women’s double pair of Sania Mirza and Rushmi Chakravarthi lost their first round match against the Taipei pair of Chia Jung Chuang and Su Wei Hsieh 1-6, 6-3, 1-6 at London Olympics.
Sania and Rushmi who got a wild card entry into the tournament were outplayed in the first set, where they could only manage to win one game. They came back strongly to win the second set 6-3 to take the match into the deciding set.
In the final set the two Indian players who last played together in the Delhi Commonwealth Games lacked coordination and they lost the set 1-6.
Sania will possess a much stronger challenge when she will team up with Laender Paes in the mixed doubles category.
