New Delhi: Marathon runner Ram Singh Yadav has been cleared by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) after he passed the fitness test conducted by the sports body for competing in the upcoming London Olympics.
He clocked 32min 30 seconds in a 10km race in Coimbatore Synthetic Trek and the AFI cleared him after getting satisfied by the iming.
Ram Kumar now became the third athlete after triple jumpers Mayookha Johny and Renjith Maheshwary to clear the test.
Mayookha managed a 14.10m jump, just an inch below her personal best 14.11m which she attained in Kobe last year at the Asian Championships, whereas Maheshwary leapt to 16.45m in nine strides in a fitness test jump at his training base at Forli in Italy on July 9.
All three were asked to undergo the test after as they have not taken part in a competition for some time after qualifying for the London Games.
