London: India’s Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza lost their second round match in the ongoing Wimbledon.
The French Open winning pair went down to Paul Hanley of Australia and Russia's Alla Kudryavtseva 6-3, 6-1 in straight sets. The India pair looked out of sorts from the beginning were outplayed by their opponent’s.
Bhupathi and Sania made four unforced errors and failed to get even a single break point opportunity.
In the first set the Indian pair hit two double faults and even though they had more winners, a single break point for the unseeded team was enough to wrap up the set.
The second set proved to be a disastrous affair for the sixth seeds as they were outclassed in all aspects of the game.
This lose might prove to be a big setback for the pair which is hoping to be teamed up in the Olympics. Sania and Bhupathi both have expressed disappointment of not being paired together as Sania was paired with Leander Paes by AITA.
Meanwhile, Sania Mirza in the doubles category moved to the third round with her partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands after defeating Stephanie Foretz Gacon and Kristina Mladenovic 6-3, 6-2
