India A surrender meekly, lose to Windies by 10 wickets

Cheteshwar PujaraGros Islet (St.Lucia): India A’s dismal performance in the Caribbean Islands continued as the visitors succumbed tamely to the hosts and lost the third and final unofficial Test to West Indies A by 10 wickets at the Beausejour Cricket Stadium here on Tuesday.

Chasing a meager target of 97 runs for victory in the fourth innings, West Indies reached the target easily without losing a wicket. Kieran Powell carried on his good form of first innings and scored another half century (56 not out) while Kraigg Brathwaite contributed an unbeaten 39 runs. Powell had scored 139 in the first innings.

Earlier in their second innings, except for Manoj Tiwary (61) and Wridhiman Saha (52) none of the Indian batsmen could apply well against the likes of Kevin McClean and Delorn Johnson. McClean scalped five of the Indian wickets giving away 57 runs while Delorn Johnson picked up three wickets for 54 runs.

Brief scores:

India A: 230 (Jalaj Saxena 61; Devendra Bishoo 3-40, Jonathan Carter 3-57) and 202 all out (Manoj Tiwary 62, Wriddhiman Saha 52; Kevin McClean 5-57, Delorn Johnson 3-54)
