New Delhi: 50-meter rifle shooter Joydeep Karmakar, who is a member of the shooting team that will go to London Olympics, is facing serious problems in his preparations ahead of the Olympics.
Joydeep, who was suppose to leave for Germany today for practice could not get his permit cleared from Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA), hence he had to delay his plans.
“I was supposed to go today, but I am still waiting to get the permit for the ammunition. I have been informed that I will get it by Monday. If that happens I will leave for Germany on Tuesday,” said Joydeep.
This is one of the few problems that have halted Joydeep’s preparations. The biggest problem for him right now is the funds that he was supposed to get a month back.
“I have been waiting for the funds, I have been informed through unofficial sources that I will get the money very soon, but I am very sorry to say that if I do not get the funds in the coming days I will have to drop the preparations for the Olympics”, said the dejected Joydeep.
He also added, “I have informed both the ministry and the association about the funds that I have not received till now. I know that they will be doing something about it.”
Joydeep also said that he is managing his practice by himself and even if he gets the permit, he won’t be able to leave for Germany if he doesn’t get the funds by then.
“It is getting very difficult for me, I hope everything falls place, I have got my fingers crossed”, said a worried Joydeep.
