Ipoh (Malaysia): Missed chances cost India dearly as the five-time champions lost to Great Britain 2-3 in the Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament on Sunday.
India were down by two goals but came back from behind to score twice within four minutes through a penalty corner conversion from VR Raghunath (55th) and a fantastic field goal by SV Sunil (59th) to draw parity with their rivals. But after bouncing back into the game, the Indians conceded a goal because of their defensive lapse in the 62nd minute as Nick Catlin scored to give Great Britain a match-winner.
Great Britain earlier scored two goals through penalty corners from Glen Kirkham (28th minute) and Ben Hawes (43rd).
With this win, Great Britain moved into the second position with four points from two matches, behind New Zealand who clinched their third successive victory by defeating Pakistan 3-1 earlier in the day.
Last year's losing finalists Pakistan have three points from two outings, while India have slipped to the fifth spot with three points from as many matches.
India will next play hosts Malaysia on Monday, while Great Britain will be up against Argentina.
