Asian Snooker Championship: Aditya eyeing gold

New Delhi: India's No.1 Aditya Mehta is all set to better his silver-winning performance at the Asian Snooker Championship 2012 to be held in Doha April 20-28.

This is the fourth time Aditya will be performing at these championships. Aditya already has two silver medals won in 2008 (Dubai) and 2011 (Indore).

Recently Aditya made the second round of the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield. The performance has boosted his confidence since he was the first Indian to win a match at the World Snooker Championships, in a decade.

Besides Aditya, the other Indians in fray are Pankaj Advani and Kamal Chawla. The team leaves Thursday night.

Forty participants from 15 countries will be participating in the tournament. China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taipei, UAE and Pakistan are some of the top countries. The winner of the Asian gets automatic qualification for the Professional Snooker Tour 2012-13 season. (IANS)
