Noida: Jyoti Randhawa shot a solid two-under 70 to grab the third round lead at the PGTI Players Championship being played at the Noida Golf Course. Gurgaon-based Randhawa’s total read two under 214 after three rounds. Amardip Sinh Malik of Meerut returned a sensational six under 66 to be placed second at one under 215.
Jyoti Randhawa (71-73-70) had a perfect start to the day as he birdied the first hole. He then hit it within eight feet of the pin on the fourth and fifth to pick up two more birdies and take his score to three under for the day. Randhawa found the trees on the 12th and 13th and as a result dropped bogeys on those holes. A good chip-putt helped Jyoti earn his final birdie of the day on the 14th.
Randhawa said, “I played solid on the front nine today. I hit it well and made some decent putts through the day. The conditions have been tough for scoring due to the wind. The key at this course is to keep it in play. I’ve not been in great form this year but things are now falling in place as I’ve been working on my swing and fitness.”
Amardip Sinh Malik (71-78-66) fired seven birdies and a bogey in his fabulous round of 66 to be one stroke behind the leader in second place.
Shamim Khan, Ashok Kumar, Ranjit Singh Rathore, Digvijay Singh, Manav Jaini and Gaurav Ghei are in tied third at one over 217.
