Indian Wells: World number one Victoria Azarenka defeated World number two Maria Sharapova 6-2, 6-3 to win the BNP Paribas Open, 2012.

Azarenka with this win has won four titles in this year. She raced to a lead of 3-0 in the opening set and made her intentions clear. Sharapova fought back to get a break back but could not do enough to stop world number one’s charge as Azarenka won the first set comfortably.

After the first set, there was no stopping the top seeded as she raced away to get her first BNP Paribas Open title.

Sharapova who has lost four previous matches against Azarenka looked all at sea against her classy opponent.
