National Tennis Championship: Mayur hogs limelight on Day 1

New Delhi: Ronak Manuja got the better of Rakshay Thakkar (4-6, 7-5, 7-5), while S.V. Abhishek beat Shahbaz Khan 6-0, 6-4 in the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship that got underway at the DLTA Tennis Complex on Monday. However, it was young Mohit Mayur who hogged the limelight on Day One as beat eighth-seed Ajai Selvaraj (6-3, 6-3) and later won his under-18 boys' round with ease.

 

 

In other upset of the day, Saketh Myneni defeated former men’s champion Vijay Kannan 6-4, 6-3. Meanwhile Ankit Sachdeva got the better of Saurabh Patil 7-5, 6-1 and Lakshit Sood defeated Vinod Gowda 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-2.
