Miami: India's Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Barbora Strycova of Czech Republic were upset by the Canadian-Chinese pair Gabriela Dabrowski and Xu Yifan in the Miami Open tennis tournament final here.
The third seeded Indo-Czech pair suffered a 4-6, 3-6 loss to the unseeded combination of Dabrowski and Xu on Sunday.
Earlier, Sania and her partner Strycova fought off a strong challenge from Martina Hingis and Chan Yung-Jan to reach the doubles final. Sania and Barbora had lost the opening set of their semi-final clash before staging a superb comeback to script a 6-7, 6-1, 10-4 against their fifth seeded opponents.
This was Sania’s second final with Barbora this year. The duo had reached the final of the Sydney International earlier this year where they lost to the Timea Babos of Hungary and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia.
