Kolkata: After playing the final in Chandigarh Grade three ITF Juniors in the first week of 2017 and having played the finals of two ITF Juniors in 2016 in India, title hungry Dhruv Sunish finally lifted the tennis championship trophy in boys singles at the 25th edition at the Dakshin Kalikata Sansad here on Saturday.
Sunish, currently ranked two in India in the under-18 category played flawlessly for about one hour and fourteen minutes on the red clay court to drub Kazakhstan's Dostanbek Tashbulatov 6-2, 6-3.
In the final of girls singles, it was more of a one-sided affair as Belgium's 17-year-old Axana Mareen, seeded one in the draw, whitewashed India's Akanksha Bhan 6-1, 6-3.
