Miami: The seventh seeded pair of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek defeated top-seeded pair of Bob and Mike Bryan to cruise into the finals of the Sony Ericsson Open played here on Thursday.
The Indo-Czech pair won in straight beat the US pair in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 and has emerged as a team which is going into the finals without dropping a set in the whole tournament.
But Indian hopes of a Paes –Bhupathi lockdown in the finals were dashes as the pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna bowed out in the semi finals after losing 6-1, 6-4 to the pair of Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor. The Belarusian-Canadian duo are seeded second won 89% of their match saving all six break points and took only 55 minutes to wipe the Indian pair.
