Dubai: India's Sania Mirza and her Russian partner Elena Vesnina lost to the American pair of Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond in straight sets in the doubles final of the Dubai Duty Free Women's Tennis Championships here Saturday.
The Indo-Russian pair lost 2-6, 1-6 to their American opponents in an hour and eight minutes. The No.1 seeds converted five of the eleven break points while second seeds Sania and Vesnina could manage only one of four points.
The Americans were strong on their serves, winning 70 percent of the first serves and 57 percent of their second. The Indo-Russian duo had difficulty in taking points from their second serves, managing to win only 35 percent of the points.
The Indo-Russian pair started the game well but were blown away as the match went on.
The 2011 US Open Champions Huber and Raymond won their ninth straight game and their third consecutive title, having already won in Paris (Indoors) and Doha earlier.
Sania had won the Pattaya Open doubles title with Australian Anastasia Rodionova a few weeks ago.
