The talented striker Gurvinder Singh was the fastest and gainful of Indian forwards. He scored a brace against New Zealand which helped India to hold them 3-3 at one point of time. He has been with the junior teams for almost three years.
He scored three goals in the Australia tour in 2008, where he played all the eight matches and he was also retained as a stand by for the Punjab gold cup in 2009. He was part of the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup as well.
He makes a grand return to senior side hockey with induction into the 2011 Azlan Shah Cup squad. He is among the goals in his comeback tournament.
In the recently concluded Hockey Olympic Qualifiers Chandi gelled well with SV Sunil and Shivendra Singh and the trio were looking a force in themselves. He scored crucial goals and helped the team in its unbeatable run.
