Profile:

Vikram Pillay was born on 27 November, 1981 in Kirkee near Pune. This field hockey midfielder has played for the Indian national filed hockey team. He presently lives in Mumbai. In the year 2002, he made his international debut for the man’s national team. The debut was made during a four nation tournament held in Adelaide, South Australia. At the 2004 summer Olympics, Pillay has also represented his native country. In the tournament India finished in seventh place. Currently he is working for Indian Airlines.

In the domestic field he has played for the teams namely Tata sports club in the year 2001, Air India in the year 2002, Indian Airlines from 2003 to present. Vikram Pillay participated in the junior national hockey championship two times.

Ignace Tirkey made his senior debut in 2001 Azlan Shah Cup after winning gold at the Samaranch Cup. He played all matches at Hobart Jr. World Cup and narrowly missed the last World Cup after being part of the title winning Champions Challenge Cup, held a couple of months before KL World Cup.

Coach Rajinder Sr. took him for the 2002 Australia Tour and then Pillay never looked back. He was adjudged ‘Best Player’ of the 2004 Holland Test Series.
