• With 10 wickets in 4 matches in the Commonwealth Bank Series of 2007/08, Praveen Kumar had the best wickets-to-matches average for any bowler in the series.
• He is the only other bowler than England's Liam Plunkett and New Zealand's Kyle Mills to dismiss the dangerous Aussie trio of Gilchrist, Ponting and Clarke in a single ODI match.
• He is the first bowler to get a hat-trick in IPL3, and overall was the seventh hat-trick of the IPL.

He is an Indian medium pacer who is famous for his swing bowling. He plays for Uttar Pradesh in the first class cricket. He made his first class debut in 2007 and because of his impressive performance by taking 26 wickets in 8 matches, he was selected for Indian one day team against Pakistan in November 17, 2007. He made his Test debut in June 20, 2011 against West Indies. He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first season of Indian Premier League though he was not a part of the auction. He became the first medium pacer to claim a hat-trick in the third season of IPL. He claimed 10 wickets in four matches in his debut ODI series. He also did a match winning spell against Australia in the final of CB series. He with his limited pace, ability to swing the ball both ways and ability to use his smart application at a higher level makes him a regular part of Indian squad. He is often called as street smart cricketer by commentators and critics due to apply his applications during the ongoing games. He made his Test debut in June, 2011 against West Indies and debuted for T20 in February, 2008 against Australia at Melbourne. In domestic cricket, he has opened for his team in few occasions.
