Abhinav Bindra shoots for silver in Kuwait

Kuwait: India’s ace shooter and Beijing Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra on Wednesday added yet another feather to his glorious crown by winning the silver medal in the Men's 10m Air Rifle event at the 4th Asian Airgun Championship 2011 in Kuwait.



Bindra shot a qualification score of 594 and was behind by two points at third position entering the final round at the Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Olympic Shooting complex. But then he followed it up with a 103.6 in the finals to claim the silver.

Another Indian, Satyendra Singh won the bronze with a score of 696.7 (593+103.7) while ace marksman Gagan Narang finished 7th. Gagan had a very shaky start today with a series of 96 but regained later after shooting series of 99,98,100,100 and 99. In the finals Narang shot 102.5 to register a total score of 694.5.

The gold in this event was won by air rifle world record holder Zhu Qinan of China with a score of 700.2 (598+102.2).

Meanwhile, the Indian team, comprising Abhinav Bindra, Gagang narang and Satyendra Singh won the silver medal in the event.
