New Delhi: Shooting is one sport in which India has more chance of Olympic glory. The Indian shooters have been proving it time and again. And now one of them has reached the summit of glory by breaking the world record. Indian shooter Apurvi Chandela from Rajasthan is the star to achieve the feet. Her shot of 211.2 in 10 metre air rifle at Swedish Cup Grand Prix broke the previous record of 211 by Olympic champion Yi Siling of China, which eventually decorated her neck with the gold medal.
This was a dream and also a perfect start to an Olympic year. After being among the first to book Rio tickets, she has achieved this peak. She qualified for Rio by winning bronze in ISSF World Cup in Changwon, Korea last April.
“This gold at Sweden has further strengthened my resolve to have a medal at Rio Olympics this year. The support, encouragement and wishes received from well wishers from Rajasthan have stood me in good stead in various international tournaments,” Chandela said after the victory.
With more potentials coming to limelight, it is the right time for the country and people to turn their eyes and supports towards Olympic Games and the qualified players.
