New Delhi: Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra got his ‘gig’ in place as he settled for silver with a total of 699 in the International shooting championship in Dortmund, Germany, on Sunday.
The very talented and former champion shot 104.0 in the final, which was 0.4 better than the eventual gold medalist Are Hansen of Norway. However, Bindra had shot only 595 in the qualification, following a series of 98, 99, 100, 100, 99 and 99.
On the other hand Norwegian Hansen shot 598 in qualification and thus won the gold 2.6 point ahead of the reigning Asian champion.
While asked Bindra about the whole affair, he admitted that it was a lot of hard work, and nothing spectacular. He would be seen competing in another smaller event in Germany as a tune up for the World Cup to be held in London next month.
