Noida: “Sangathan 2013- Inter Institutional Sports Meet”, which is organized to promote sports culture and sportsmanship amongst the youth of the country, concluded today at Amity University, Sector – 125, Noida with much enthusiasm and fanfare.
Sangathan 2013 commenced on September 18, 2013 and more than 10,000 students of higher education institutions from all Amity Campuses located across India and abroad zealously participated in various sports events including Hockey, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Swimming, Squash among others.
The team from Amity School of Engineering and Technology lifted the glistening “Sangathan” Trophy with 19 Gold Medals, 10 Silver Medals and 14 Bronze Medals. Amity Law School, Noida, with 16 Gold Medals, 15 Silver Medals and 5 Bronze Medals, was given Runners up Trophy. The combined teams of Amity Institute of Nanotechnology and Amity Institute of Advanced Research and Studies bagged the Second Runners up Trophy with 8 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals.
The valediction was graced by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan-Chairperson, Amity International Schools, Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh; Mr. Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan; Maj. Gen K J Singh- Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh and other Senior Officials, Directors, Faculty members and students of Amity.
Thousands of Amitians from AMIOWN, Amity International Schools, Amity Universities located across India and abroad thronged Amity grounds to wish their Founder President, cheer the participating teams and witness the motley celebrations of the valediction. They presented a perfect picture of team spirit, camaraderie, sportsmanship and unity in diversity
The ceremony commenced with lighting of the “Khel Jyoti” by Sports Captains of various teams which stands for true sportsmanship, healthy competition and camaraderie followed by an impressive March Past by __ contingents from different schools, colleges and institutes of Amity.
The tiny tots of AMIOWN located in Noida, Pushp Vihar and Gurgaon, danced merrily on beautiful songs and even performed Taekwondo with much finesse. Their faces beamed with unparallel excitement and joy.
Welcoming the vast gathering, Prof. Kalpana Sharma, Chairperson, Organising Committee, Sangathan – 2013 presented a summary of Sangathan 2013 and shared that there were over 22 events organized for students and 8 for faculty and staff during 15th Sangathan. She revealed that total 10, 000 students from 61 Institutions participated during the month long Sports Meet and over 421 Gold, 421 Silver and 421 Bronze Medals will be awarded during the Prize Distribution Ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, expressed his happiness over the team spirit, courage and sportsmanship displayed by Amity students across India and abroad during SANGATHAN. Dr. Chauhan remarked that Amity students are different and unparallel; they radiate positivism, hard work, determination and confidence and have a fire within their heart to transform the Nation. Dr. Chauhan shared that Amity scientists, true to the mission and vision of their Founder President, have filed over 514 patents in a short span of time and declared that the erudite faculty of Amity would publish 3, 000 research papers in renowned journals in next three years, making Amity one of the best Universities of the World.
During the joyful celebration of “Sangathan 2013- Inter Institutional Sports Meet”, Amity’s first state-of –the-art Community Radio Station- 'Radio Amity’ was launched by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President which will be on air 24 hours on 107.8 MHz over a radius of 15 kilometres, covering a thickly populated, under privileged and middle class neighbourhood of the University. It would be run by students of Amity University. ‘Radio Amity' intends to cater to health, educational, environmental, community development, cultural and social welfare, entertainment and awareness and other significant matters.. The radio station has its own broadcasting, production and recording facilities as well as Transmission.
On the eve of Founder’s Day, the students of various campuses of Amity spread across India and abroad organized a “Cultural Programme” at University campus, Sector- 125, Noida.
Hundreds of students from Amity University Dubai, Amity Global Business Schools, Amity Group of Institutions, Greater Noida (DIT), Amity University Madhya Pradesh (AUMP), Amity University, Haryana (AUH), Amity University, Rajasthan (AUR), Amity University, Lucknow Campus presented vibrant dances such as Lavni, Bhangra, Odissi, Kathakali etc displaying the rich cultural diversity of the country.
