IPSC Swimming: Bobby Rana of Modern School declared best swimmer in U-19 boys’ category

ipsc-swimmingNew Delhi: Bobby Rana of Modern School was declared the best swimmer in the under-19 boys’ category while Anjali Nair bagged the award in the under-19 girls’ section at the 27th All India IPSC Swimming Championship (Boys & Girls) held at DPS RK Puram, New Delhi from September 29 to October 1.

 


Meanwhile in the boys’ under-17 category, Harsh Yadav of DPS RK Puram got the best swimmer prize with five new meet records and the girls’ under-17 best swimmer award went to Kavya Anand of the same school with five new meet records. In the girls under-14 the honour was bagged jointly by Diksha Tokas of DPS RK Puram with three new meet records and Jasmine Chawla of DPS Mathura Road.

In the overall tally, the second runners up trophy (boys & girls) went to DPS RK Puram with 437 points while overall runners up for both categories were Modern School, Barakhamba Road with 456 points. The overall winners in both boys & girls were Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai, Sonipat.

The closing ceremony took place on October 1.The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, the Chairman of DPS Society, Ashok Chandra, The Vice Principal, Shobha Mehta welcomed all the guests, congratulated all the participants and called them all ‘winners’. Pushpa Aggarwal, Vice Principal, DPS Shiksha Kendra; Mukesh Kumar, Supervisor; Vanita Sehgal and Anita Singh, Headmistresses of DPS RK Puram were present on the occasion along with Archana Pental and Dolly Chanana, headmistresses of the junior schools, Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash respectively.

Ashok Chandra addressed the gathering and congratulated all the participants.  He expressed his appreciation for the immense talent displayed by them and stressed on the importance of such meets as great “learning experiences” which make “better human beings” and provide “opportunities for bonding together and forging lifelong friendships.”
