New Delhi: Delhi Dynamos Football Club have signed former Real Madrid player Ruben Gonzalez as the 2nd marquee for the Hero Indian Super League Season 3. Gonzalez was part of the Los Blancos squad that won the Champions League in 2001-2002 and he then went on to win the Spanish La Liga in 2002-2003. During his time at the Bernabeu, Gonzalez has played alongside Galacticos like current Real Madrid manager Zidane and former Delhi Dynamos manager Roberto Carlos.
On signing for Delhi Dynamos F.C., Ruben Gonzalez said, “I am really excited to join Delhi Dynamos, having played for most of my career in Spain and Germany, I am looking forward to playing in Asia for the first time.” He further added, “I have spoken to the manager, Zambrotta and I am in tune with his plans for the season, and I believe we can do even better than last season”
Speaking on Ruben’s signing, Head Coach of Delhi Dynamos F.C., Gianluca Zambrotta said, “We are glad to have Ruben Gonzalez in our team, he will strengthen our defense and the experience he has gained by playing and training alongside players like Heirro, Carlos, Figo and of course Zidane will only benefit the club and the other players on the field, he will definitely be one of the leaders on and off the pitch for the club.”

Ruben will be in the Delhi Dynamos F.C. squad for the charity friendly match being played against West Bromwich Albion F.C. at the Hawthorns on September 3, 2016.
Gonzalez, the 34 year old Spaniard had a glittering start to the career winning the EUFA European U16 Championship. He was a constant fixture in the Spanish Youth Teams playing from the U 16 to U 21 level. After making 87 appearances for Real Madrid B team from 2001 to 2006, the academy graduate went onto to play for the Senior Los Blancos side winning the 2001-02 EUFA Champion’s League and 2002-03 Spanish La Liga.
The defender can also boast of two European Super Cups and one Inter Continental Cup during his stint at Real Madrid. The experienced defender has immense experience in Spanish Club Football making over 200 appearances playing at Cubs like Racing Santander, Mallorca, Ossasuna, amongst others. The latest signing joins Delhi Dynamos after 2 seasons of regular football at Real Zaragoza.
