Indianapolis: Mumbai-born Sadiq Yusuf of Skokie, Illinois, has been selected for the Volunteer Recognition Award by the American Cricket Federation (ACF).
Sadiq is now a certified cricket umpire in the Midwest region. He has been volunteering as an umpire for the Midwest Cricket Conference twice each weekend, and has been doing so for the past decade, according to ACF. He is also a member of the MCC’s Umpiring Committee and the Senior Men’s Selection Committee. Sadiq is also on the MCC’s Youth Selection panel and the Rules committees of the league.
The current year has been the most satisfying and rewarding for Sadiq Yusuf as manager of the Midwest team which clinched the Unity Cup and the ACF National Men’s title six weeks later.
Sadiq strongly feels that “ indigenous development of youth and college cricketers that cricket in the USA can improve and go to the next level, rather than remaining what it currently is – almost exclusively an immigrant sport.”
The ACF has expressed its pleasure to acknowledge the efforts of Sadiq Yusuf and others like him, who are voluntarily helping promote cricket in USA.
