First Asian Tour destination launched with Dalat at 1200

Singapore: The Asian Tour has launched its exclusive network of world-class golfing properties around the region with the unveiling of The Dalat at 1200, Country Club and Private Estate by Centurion Group Development as the Tour’s first Asian Tour Destination in Dalat, Vietnam.

The Dalat at 1200 is the first property to become part of the newly established Asian Tour Destinations network which promises to offer a comprehensive range of facilities and services to their members and guests as well as Asian Tour players and officials.

The Development is currently under construction and is expected to open in 2015. This unique partnership, where their identity will be closely aligned to the Asian Tour, will also welcome an Asian Tour tournament after the 2015 opening.

In addition to bringing the Asian Tour into this market, both the Tour and The Dalat at 1200 are committed to the development of golf in Vietnam and in particular to encourage more player development and foster junior player development.

The Dalat at 1200 will also be home to the first Asian Tour Performance Golf Institute.

The Asian Tour Performance Golf Institute will be focused primarily on being the Asian Tour players’ home away from home, enabling them to practice and hone their game during and after the season. Its aim is also to provide the highest level of instruction to Club Members and developing professionals from Vietnam and overseas

Located in Dalat, Vietnam which is accessible by air via a 30 minute flight from Ho Chi Minh and a one hour and 40 minute flight from Hanoi, this exciting development itself is centered on bringing a new type of lifestyle to Asia.

Situated on an amazing 2,100 acre site which sits at an elevation of 1,200 meters in a self-contained mountain and lakeside setting, The Dalat at 1200 is unlike anywhere else in Asia.

With the dry and temperate climate and a mean temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, the Property will be playable all year round, allowing not just a unique environment for the Tour’s players but, offering a Tour Player’s experience to both members and guests alike.

The Dalat at 1200’s 18-hole championship golf course will be designed by Asian golfing legend Kyi Hla Han, a former Asian Tour Order of Merit winner.

This is the first named design course for Han and it will be combined with a 5,000 square meters clubhouse and 250 villas, styled with an architecture that is reminiscent of French country living.

Future development will include larger private estate homes, additional golf facilities, an outdoor activities centre, a professional tennis training centre and all of the other outdoor activities that are expected from a quality development focused on active and healthy lifestyles.

Kay Hwa Tang, a Director of the Development, said: “We are delighted to partner with the Asian Tour in building the first Asian Tour Destination. We are not just excited about the golfing facilities that we are building but we are equally excited about creating a resort that resonates with each member of the family.

Whether you are golfing or indulging in activities like hiking, biking, playing tennis, fishing and any other outdoor adventures you can think of, The Dalat at 1200 is a resort where you can get back to nature to de-stress and re-charge. We call it ‘The Great Escape!’”

Han, Asia’s number one in 1999 where he has won over 20 tournaments across the region, said: “I am very excited to be designing the golf course at The Dalat at 1200. I’ll be using all my experiences from playing at the top golf courses around the world and from my 25 years as a touring professional for my first design.

The Dalat at 1200 golf course will be one of the very few courses in Asia which will have bent grass greens as the weather conditions in Dalat are ideal.”

Asian Tour’s CEO Mike Kerr described the landmark partnership as a ground breaking development and believes it is a testament to the standing of the Asian Tour as the region’s premier Tour.

“The Asian Tour is a recognised brand name in the golf industry. As the official sanctioning body for professional golf in the region where we are celebrating our milestone 10th season in 2013, our association with Corporate Asia is second to none,” said Kerr.

“There is a lot of excitement in welcoming The Dalat at 1200 onboard as our first ever Asian Tour destination and we look forward to a wonderful partnership which will certainly benefit all parties.

The launch of Asian Tour Destinations is very significant as it is a new business venture for us and we are confident it will benefit our partners, the Tour and our players.” added Kerr.
