Kolkata: JK Tyre is all set to charm motorsport lovers in Kolkata with the JK Tyre TSD Car Rally 2013. The ceremonial flag-off is scheduled on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 4.30 pm from Dishari, Salt Lake. Ravi Kumar, Chairman, Calcutta Motor sports Club, Saurav Chatterjee, Clark of the Course will be present for the flag-off along with S R Chatterjee, Regional Manager, JK Tyre & Industries Limited.
Bringing together time, speed and distance in an exciting way, the rally will begin from Park Street and Camac Street Crossing at 0700 hrs on Sunday, April 21, 2013, covering a distance of 80kms before concluding at the City Center – 1, Salt Lake. The cars will pass through areas such as Salt Lake Stadium, Salt Lake Sector – 5 and New Town, covering Kolkata’s finest roads and locales.
Around 40 cars that include the leading rally drivers of Eastern India have confirmed their participation in the rally, which promises to be the ultimate test of the navigational and driving skills of competitors. The internationally accepted TSD format is a unique form of rallying where crossing the chequered flag fastest is not the objective. Mostly conducted on public roads with sporadic off-road and track sections, the objective of these rallies is to maintain specified times and average speeds on various segments of a predefined route. Each team usually consists of a driver and navigator.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony will be held at 1530 hrs at Dishari, Salt Lake, and the occasion will be graced by eminent personality from the world motorsport fraternity.
The JK Tyre Car Rally 2013 is being organized by the Motor Sports Association of Eastern India (MSAEI) and Calcutta Motor Sports Club (CMSC). It is supported by Taza TV, Mounthill, OPDM, and MB Sarkar & Sons Jewellers.
