Delhi: The Budweiser Cup India 2013 today provided a platform to aspiring football players to experience the professional level of the beautiful game of football by competing in a series of six-a-side. With magnificent participation of highly enthusiastic aspiring football stars showcasing the finest emerging talent across India, Budweiser Cup India 2013 this year again produced exceptional entertainment and footballing excellence.
The highlight of the tournament was the Women’s football match.
Budweiser Cup India 2013 brought together more than 200 football enthusiasts between the ages of 21-55 in Delhi. The enthusiastic participants flaunted a well crafted designer jersey designed by India’s leading fashion designer Narendra Kumar. Winners and runners-up from each city will participate in the National Finals to be held in New Delhi to determine the Budweiser 6v6 Cup 2013 champions. The championship team will receive a trip to London to represent India in the Budweiser 6v6 Cup London 2013.
India last participated in the Budweiser Cup in 2009, when 224 teams from across the country competed for the chance to represent India against 14 other countries at the finals held at Old Trafford.
A unique tribute to the spirit of Womanhood was also paid by Budweiser. An exclusive Women’s Football Match was organized to encourage women to play and showcase their skills in football. The woman of today is inferior to none and nothing can be more powerful than a football match between young and beautiful amateur women footballers working with leading corporate organizations. The football match aims to emphasize the significance of women’s self-reliance. It focuses on creating a positive and fun environment for the women to play the beautiful game and fans that come out to watch them. HCL Chargers were defeated by the Hindustan Footfall Club in the Women’s final. Ms Roshini Gupta from Hindustan Club was declared the best player of the tournament. With Budweiser, football is not just a man’s game anymore.
