Hero Hockey India League announces total prize money of U.S. $ 1.00 million

hilDelhi:  The  winners  of  the  inaugural  Hero Hockey  India  League  will  win  a  grand  prize  of  Rs 2,50,00,000/- (Rupees Two Crores and Fifty Lacs)  and  a  glittering  trophy,  while  the Runners Up  will  collect  a  sum  of  Rs 1,25,00,000/- ( Rupees One Crore and Twenty Five Lacs) and team  placed  Third  will  win Rs 75,00,000/- (Rupees Seventy Five Lacs)

 

Making  the  announcement  here today, Chairman  of  the  Hero Hockey  India  League, Dr Narinder Batra  said, the  Hero Player of the Tournament  will  receive  Rs 25,00,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Lacs) and a Trophy, Prize for the Upcoming Player of the  Tournament will receive  the  Ponty Chadha Trophy  and  Rs 20,00,000/- (Rupees Twenty Lacs), the  team  scoring  highest  number  of  goals  in  the  league  stage  gets Airtel  Award  for  scoring  the  highest  number  of  goals  for  Rs 10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lacs)  and a Trophy and  the  team getting  least  number  of  green, yellow  and  red  cards  gets  the  Fair play  Trophy.

 

Speaking  on  the  announcement, Dr Narinder Batra  said: “The Hero Hockey India League  is  proud  to  announce  these  exciting  awards  for  the teams  and  the players  who  are  putting  forward  a  great  show  for  millions  of  fans  of  the  game  across  the  world. The cash  prizes  come  as  rewards  for  the Franchisee, players  and  the  support  teams  hard  work  and  dedication  to  make  the  Hero Hockey India  League  the  best in  the  World.”

 

Currently the players gain recognition in each match through the ‘Hero Man of the Match’ being awarded Rs 25,000/- per game, the ‘Airtel Goal of the Match’ receiving Rs 25,000/- per match and the Airtel Golden Goal scorers per match collecting Rs 10,000/- each. The Hero Hockey India League will be distributing a total of Rs 5.40 Crores in prize money.

 

The  HHIL  has  already  witnessed  16  sectional  matches  across cities  such as Delhi, Lucknow, Ranchi, Mumbai  and  Jalandhar. The  league  has  been  received  well  across  the  country  and  will  surely  act  as  a  platform  to  bring  back  the  lost  fame  of  hockey  in  the country.
