BLK Baroda Cup 2012 launched with Sports for Wellness Campaign

New Delhi: Continuing with its commitment to promote wellness and quality health, BLK Super Speciality Hospital, managed by Radiant Life Care, on Thursday announced its association with India’s prestigious Polo tournament Baroda Cup. The Cup shall now be reinstituted as BLK Baroda Cup.

A Sports for Wellness Pledge was also signed on this occasion by the top management of the Radiant Life Care, captains of the five participating teams and celebrated players including Mr Adhiraj Singh, Mr Samir Suhag, Mr Angad Kalaan, Mr Max Charlton, and Mr Dhruvpal Godara. They all pledged their support on the need to stay fit and healthy.

He added that over the last decade, lifestyle diseases have caused the mortality and morbidity rates to rise by three folds. “We strongly believe physical activity/agility and promotion of sports will go a long way in mitigating such chronic disease burden”, he said. Radiant's foray into the healthcare sector started with the redevelopment of city’s 700-bed BLK Super Specialty Hospital.

Adhiraj Singh, Captain of Sahara Warriors, said, “Polo is a vibrant game and we are happy BLK Hospital has associated itself with this prestigious Cup. Health and sports are integral to each other and I am happy to lend all my support to this endeavour.”

Instituted in 1974, the 10 goal handicap tournament is one of the premier polo tournaments in the winter calendar of the Army Polo and Riding Club. The five teams participating in the tournament are Navy, Sahara Warriors, 61st Cavalry, Jindal Steel and Power and IPG Young India. The polo matches will be played at the Jaipur Polo grounds from December 8-9, 2012 and will be contested by 5 teams where the matches are being played in the round robin format.
