About Gary Fisher
It was the crazy decade of the 1960’s in California USA. The decade that had the awesome destruction of the Vietnam war, simultaneously with the incredible creativity of the music of the Beatles, the art of Andy Warhol & the greatest peace movement of the flower power generation.
It was the decade when youth rebelled in college campuses all over the US & an avid biker named Gary Fisher got banned from racing in California because his hair was too long. Always the rebel, Gary refused to cut his long hair & instead focused his intense passion & love of biking by bombing down off road mountain trails in Marin County California.
As the regular road bikes & cruisers, were totally unsuited for such off road treatment, Gary’s creativity went to work in modifying these bikes. This was the creation of the sport of mountain biking & enshrined Gary Fisher as the iconic original guru of mountain bikers.
In 1993 Gary joined hands with the world’s best manufacturer of mountain bikes, Trek Bicycle Corp, combining his creativity with Trek’s enormous manufacturing & marketing capabilities to bring Gary’s designs to the world market. The Gary Fisher Collection is the latest avatar of this marriage.
