Jitendra Singh takes charge as minister of for Youth Affairs and Sports

New Delhi: Jitendra Singh took over as Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports here today. He was welcomed by the Senior Officers of the Ministry. Immediately after assuming charge,  Jitendra Singh had a detailed meeting with the Sports Secretary and discussed various issues concerning the Department.

While briefing the media after assumption of office, Jitendra Singh said “Ajay Maken has done a great job as a Sports Minister and I am going to carry forward his good work”. Keeping in view the 50 percent of youth population in the country, Singh said that this Ministry have tremendous outreach and can deliver a lot especially connecting the young people belonging to North-East, Jammu & Kashmir and Naxal affected areas. On the question of implementation of National Sports Code, he said “I will take everyone on board and dominance should be on sportsmen and sports”. He also stressed the need for transparency and accountability in the working of organizations.

Born on 12 June, 1971, Jitendra Singh was earlier Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
